BlueCat announced the appointments of internationally recognized security expert Richard (Dick) Clarke and former Fieldglass CEO Jai Shekhawat to its Board of Directors to support the company’s strategic entry into the cyber security market. The move follows BlueCat’s launch of BlueCat DNS Edge, a security-focused offering that leverages DNS data to help cyber teams detect and block insider threats, compromised IoT devices, and lateral malware movement across enterprise networks. The board additions are intended to bring deep security expertise and disciplined growth experience to help BlueCat scale its Adaptive DNS business and capitalize on security and digital transformation opportunities.
Why did BlueCat add Richard Clarke and Jai Shekhawat to its Board of Directors?
BlueCat appointed Richard Clarke and Jai Shekhawat to accelerate its entry into the cyber security market and to support scaling of the business after launching BlueCat DNS Edge. Clarke brings deep experience in security, strategy, and national-level cyber policy and risk management, which the company expects will help focus on appropriate security opportunities. Shekhawat contributes proven entrepreneurial and high-growth SaaS leadership from his time founding and scaling Fieldglass, offering discipline and operational experience to help BlueCat grow its Adaptive DNS and security offerings globally.
What security capabilities does BlueCat claim with BlueCat DNS Edge?
BlueCat DNS Edge is positioned as a flagship security product that uses DNS data to help cyber security teams identify, assess, and block insider threats, compromised Internet of Things devices, and lateral movement of malware on corporate networks. The product is part of BlueCat’s Adaptive DNS portfolio that centralizes and automates DNS services and leverages DNS telemetry for increased control, compliance, and security. BlueCat markets DNS Edge as a way to turn DNS infrastructure and data into actionable security intelligence for enterprise environments undergoing cloud migration, virtualization, and other digital transformation initiatives.
What relevant experience do the two new board members bring to BlueCat?
Richard Clarke served in senior White House roles for ten consecutive years, including Special Advisor on Cyberspace and National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism, and founded Good Harbor, a cyber security risk advisory firm; he is also an author and educator on security topics. Jai Shekhawat founded and led Fieldglass for 15 years, growing it into a widely used SaaS platform for contingent workforce procurement with global operations in more than 100 countries before its sale to SAP for over $1 billion; he was also an Ernst & Young Midwest Entrepreneur of the Year and previously worked as a McKinsey consultant. Together they provide high-level security insight and proven enterprise SaaS scaling experience.
