BlueCat: Among 2018 Best Workplaces™ in Technology

We’ve got some exciting news to share! This year, we proudly announced that BlueCat was named on the list of Best Workplaces in Canada for the second year in a row. Well guess what? Now, we have another feather to add to our cap: we’ve been added to the 2018 list for Best Workplaces™ in Technology as well!

With the list being created directly from employee feedback, it gives us a strong sense of pride (and that warm and fuzzy feeling) to witness our dedication to having a positive company culture growing even stronger. Our culture is not only an important part of the employee experience – it is also a key element in what makes BlueCat a great place to work.

Since we’re taking a moment to pat ourselves on the back, let’s have a quick look at the other elements that go into making a workplace in the technology sector great:

Our people are our number one priority

It’s always important to us that we look out for number one: our people. No matter how amazing a company’s products or output may be, when the people behind it are unhappy, it shows. This is why we’re committed to ensuring that we always encourage a healthy work-life balance, and that we foster a sense of community not only with regular community socials. On top of this, we also look at the other aspects that foster wellbeing; when we bring in guest speakers on mental health, or massage therapists, we’re ensuring the upkeep of our foundation that we’ve built ourselves upon. Simply put, there’s love for each and every BlueCat.

And the love goes both ways. Some BlueCats have taken to expressing this in very creative ways, including one particular individual who decked out their ride with a spectacular paint job. Who knew that team spirit smelled exactly like new car smell?

Xzibit would be impressed. What a beaut!

Expertise is, well, our expertise

We’re incredibly proud of what we do, and we know that it isn’t enough to just say that – so we go out of our way to show it. When it comes to our customers, we always make it our number one priority to ensure that… we’re different. Sure, we know what we’re doing, and we know that we’re good at what we do, but this is useless if we can’t show it to those seeking our assistance. According to one of our longtime customers,

“We’ve used BlueCat for almost 10 years at this point… No matter the size of the issue they are always timely to respond w/ helpful solutions. As we look forward to moving part of our critical infrastructure to the cloud I can’t imagine using a different vendor at this point.”

We take pride in the fact that our experts are always making certain that when looking for a solution, it’s never one-size-fits-all – our clients’ needs are unique, and we respect that.

Something great about our experts is that they know that it can’t always be all work and no play. For example, you might see some of them competing in Mud Hero. Or, you might not be able to see them at all because they’re completely disguised in an incredibly elaborate Hallowe’en get-up during our annual costume contest. (Hey, we said they know how to have fun, we never said they weren’t competitive!)

Sometimes our experts’ families like to join in on making BlueCat awesome.

Being curious is second-nature to us

Curiosity is one of our core values, and it is a major part of what helps us thrive as a company that is always looking for new ways to innovate. Before looking to solve challenges, we go even further back to look into where challenges may be going by unnoticed. We understand that nobody has all the answers – but it’s up to us to search for them. Questions are openly encouraged, as we’re well aware that if we think we’re done learning, we’re doing it wrong. Do you think of yourself as a curious person, or are you curious about what makes a person curious? Take a look at our careers page – you just might be our next BlueCat.
