BlueCat acquires LiveAction to drive network modernization and optimization

BlueCat’s acquisition of LiveAction will allow customers to expand their view beyond DNS and dive deeper into the health of their network.

We’re thrilled to announce that BlueCat has closed its agreement to acquire LiveAction.

Today marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for both our companies and, most importantly, our customers. Together, we’re uniquely positioned to help organizations modernize and optimize their networks in a way that has never been done before.

At BlueCat, we’ve always been committed to network modernization, helping our customers ensure that their networks are agile, resilient, and prepared for the future. However, we know that modernization alone isn’t enough. Without optimization, even the most modern change-ready networks can suffer from performance, reliability, and security challenges. That’s where LiveAction comes in.

The power of network observability and performance management

LiveAction’s expertise in network observability and performance management is the perfect complement to BlueCat’s deep understanding of DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (known together as DDI). With LiveAction, we can expand our view beyond DNS and dive deeper into the health of the network itself. This means our customers will get a full picture of their network—from DNS-level insights to comprehensive traffic flows and performance monitoring across all network protocols. That helps large organizations get ahead of network and security performance issues before they impact applications, customers, and business services.

One of the most exciting aspects of this acquisition is how LiveAction’s network observability platform provides visibility into network traffic flows and bottlenecks while enabling packet-level capture and analysis. This granular view of network performance is a distinct advantage that sets us apart from other DDI solution providers, and it’s something that will enable our customers to tackle network challenges more proactively and effectively.

Building on our legacy: From Indeni to LiveAction

In 2023, we acquired Indeni (re-branded as BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance) because we recognized that organizations needed to assure the health and performance of DDI services and their associated load balancers and firewalls. Acquiring LiveAction extends those capabilities, enabling organizations to isolate the source of response time issues, inform network policy, and optimize network capacity.

BlueCat’s industry-leading DDI solutions are the source of truth for what is on the network. We help network teams automate and secure the provisioning, orchestration, and configuration of foundational network services. LiveAction’s solutions provide the source of truth for what is happening on the network—empowering network and security teams alike.

Looking ahead: growth, innovation, and integration

The combination of our strengths means that we can offer unparalleled support to our customers. Together, we’re not just modernizing networks; we’re making them smarter, more efficient, and more secure.

We look forward to the journey ahead and are confident that this acquisition will unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation. We’re sharing use cases between our offerings with common customers and expect to deliver integrations between our offerings in the months ahead. We’re also excited to welcome LiveAction’s talented employees to BlueCat. Their expertise, passion, and innovative spirit will help drive even greater value to our customers.

Thank you for your continued trust in BlueCat and LiveAction.
